Senior hockey veteran Terry Ryan is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Ryan spearheaded the St. John’s Caps to a pair of wins last weekend in the East Coast Senior Hockey League, scoring a combined six goals and two assists.
Ryan potted four goals and assisted on the other last Saturday in a 5-1 St. John’s win over the Conception Bay Blues, following up on a two-goal, one-assist effort in a 5-2 victory over the Northeast Eagles the previous night.
A former eighth overall draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 1995, Ryan enjoyed a six-year pro career, which included eight games with the Canadiens and one season with the St. John’s Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League. He also played for the AHL’s Fredericton Canadiens.
