Softball player Jordan Pomeroy is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Pomeroy was part of the Canadian junior men’s softball team which finished fourth at the 2018 WBSC world junior men’s softball championship last week in Prince Albert, Sask.
The 18-year-old Pomeroy, Canada’s youngest player in the tournament, finished tied for the team lead with eight RBIs while posting a .316 batting average. He reached base 10 times on six hits and four walks, hit two homers — including a grand slam — and scored five runs.
