At St. Pat’s Ball Park, RMM Gonzaga moved into a first-place tie with OMT Shamrocks with an 8-4 win over Knights in the Tuesday nightcap.

In an earlier game, the Shammies opened the door for the Vikings with a 4-2 loss to the Fifth Ticket Feildians.

Keith Spurrell, the first of three Gonzaga pitchers, got the win. Mike O’Neil and Scott Hynes finished up.

Brandon Jackson started and took the loss, failing to get out of the first inning. Tyler Holwell and Randy Reid also pitched for the Knights.

Andrew Paul, Gerald Butt and Gary Dymond each had two singles for the Vikes. Sean Beson collected three hits for the Knights, and knocked in a run.

Mike Delaney scattered seven hits over seven innings, walked four and hit a batter but was still good enough to limit Shamrocks to a pair of runs. Andrew Symonds started for the Shammies and was tagged with the loss. Mattie Murphy pitched one-plus innings of relief.

Nobody on Feildians had more than a hit, although Alex Walsh was one-for-one with three walks. Charlie Kelly had a pair of hits for Shamrocks.

A third game was played at the Smallwood Drive Ball Park in Mount Pearl, where Holy Cross trimmed the lowly Blazers 15-2.
