The first-year Guards snapped a 1-1 deadlock in the top half of the seventh inning scoring three runs, and then hung on for a 4-3 win over Sundance Feildians in St. John’s Molson intermediate baseball Thursday evening at St. Pat’s Ball Park.

The Double Blues made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh with two runs, coming up just short of tying the game.

Mike Healey (6IP, 3H, 3R, 3ER, 10BB, 8K) pitched the win despite control problems. Nathan Flynn (1IP, 1H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 1K) came on for the save. Michael Molloy (5.2IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 4BB, 7K) was the hard-luck loser. Brett Glover (1/3IP, 2H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 1K) also pitched.

Dan Harris and Jordan Walker both had a pair of hits for the winners, who got a two-run triple from Kieran Burke in the seventh.

Greg Delacey was two-for-two for Feildians, with a couple of runs knocked in.

In the first half of the doubleheader at St. Pat’s, OMT Shamrocks thumped Gonzaga 11-0.

Ben Murphy (2IP, 4H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 2K) pitched the win, with relief help from Bernie Morgan (4IP, 0H, 0R, ER, 0BB, 4K).

Elliot Phillips, the first of three Vikings pitchers, was tagged with the loss. Allan Saunders and Jared Milley also pitched.

Colin Rose had a big game for the Shammies, going two-for-three with a single, triple, three RBIs, two runs scored and a couple of stolen bases.

Cole Hillier had two hits for Gonzaga.

At Smallwood Drive Ball Park in Mount Pearl, Riverdale Storage Storm beat the Knights 5-2.

Winning pitcher Daniel Toope pitched two innings, along with Isaac Doyle, Tyler Hennessey and Aaron Peach.

Matt Janes (7IP, 5R, 6H, 6K) took the loss.

Blake Fudge had a two-run single in the seventh inning to score two runs for the Storm.
