A pesky group of young diamond dwellers from Pasadena will be gunning for gold on home soil this weekend.

The Pasadena Pirates will play host to the 2018 Baseball Newfoundland and Labrador AA Peewee Baseball Championship this weekend at the N. W. Bennett Sports Complex in the Humber Valley community.

The St. John’s Capitals, Mount Pearl Blazers, C.B.N. Bulldogs, Gander Pilots and Grand Falls-Windsor Braves will provide the opposition for the single round-robin affair that will see a champion crowned on Sunday in Pasadena.

The end of August means it’s time to prepare for a return to school for our youth, but it’s also a busy time for baseball with three more provincial minor baseball titles up for grabs this weekend.

Grand Falls-Windsor will host four visiting teams, including the Corner Brook Barons, when action gets underway at the 2018 provincial peewee A baseball championship that gets underway today at the Goodyear Avenue Field.

Paradise will host the 2018 AAA Peewee Baseball Championship at Milton Road Field with the Corner Brook Barons one of five teams in the hunt for a gold medal before shifting the focus to academics instead of athletics.

Mount Pearl will host the 2018 AA Midget Baseball Championship at both Smallwood Drive Field in Mount Pearl and St. Pat’s Ballpark in St. John’s providing the venues for an eight-team tournament that features west coast entries from Corner Brook and Pasadena.
