Jason Kearley threw a complete-game shutout as the Mount Pearl-based Knights edged the Fifth Ticket Feildians 1-0 Tuesday night at Smallwood Field.

The Knights had entered Tuesday with the 12 points, the same as the RMM Gonzaga Vikings and OMT Shamrocks, who won their games St. Pat’s Ball Park. However, since the Knights (7-1) have played one fewer game than the Vikings and Shammies, they still  are listed in first place.

Kearley (5H, 3W, 2HB, 2K) got the win over Mike Delaney (4H, 3W, 1K).

The game’s only run was scored in the first inning when Greg Sharpe singled, stole second and scored on Shawn Beson’s hit.

Sharpe and Dylan Moss of Feildians each had two hits.

Meanwhile, at St. Pat’s Ball Park, the Shamrocks downed the Holy Cross Trinity Pub Crusaders 6-1.

Scott Goosney (4H, 1W), struck out 10 and didn’t allow an earned run in a complete-game performance.

Sean Janes took the loss, giving up all six Shamrocks runs.

Andrew Symonds of the winners had a perfect night at the plate, getting four singles in four at-bats.

Meanwhile, the Vikings downed the winless Blazers by default.
