The Knights made the most of what they were given, scoring four unearned runs as they downed the Gonzaga Vikings 7-5 in St. John’s Molson senior baseball play at St. Pat’s Ball Park Wednesday evening.
Matt Sullivan (8H, 2W, 5K pitched a complete-game win, with David Lahey (10H, 0W, 4K) charged with loss despite giving up just three earned runs over the full seven frames.
Stephen Brien of the Knights and Troy Croft of Gonzaga each had two hits, with one of Brien’s being a triple.
In Wednesday’s second game at St. Pat’s, Feildians also were productive, turning five hits and seven walks into double-digit runs in an 11-5 win over the OMT Shamrocks.
Double Blues starter Adam Lawlor (5IP, 2H, 5R, 1W, 2K), who got the win, combined with reliever Nick Curran to allow just four hits.
Shammies starter Greg Barry, the first of four pitchers for the Green and Gold, took the loss, giving up five runs — two of them unearned — in a couple innings of work.
The Feildians’ Alex Walsh had two hits.
