Matthew Bonnell of the Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook continues to hold top spot after two days of play at the 2018 Royal LePage provincial junior golf championships at the Twin Rivers course of the Terra Nova Resort & Golf Community.

Bonnell, the runner-up at the event in 2017, carded a five-over-par 76 Tuesday for a 149 total, which extended his lead over Ryan McNeil-Lamswood of Harmon Seaside Links in Stephenville to seven strokes.
Gavin Connors of Clovelly in St. John’s broke a three-way tie for third  by recording an 84  Tuesday for a two-day total of 164, leaving him a stroke ahead of Michael Simms, also of Clovelly.
Ethan Efford of Bally Haly in St. John’s leads the juvenile division after a second-round 91 gave him a 171 total. He’s four strokes up on clubmate Alex Dolomount, who had a 95 on Day 2. Rounding out the top three in the division is Nathan Young of Clovelly at 182.
Jack Pelley-MacHardy of Grand Falls Golf Club carded an 89 Tuesday for a two-day total of 185, increasing his bantam division lead over Karsen Best of Bally Haly by 10 strokes.
The final round of play is today.
