Colin Thomas and his makethecall.ca rink are the new champions of the Re/Max SuperLeague at the St. John’s Curling Club.
Thomas, lead Spencer Wicks, second Chris Ford, and third Cory Schuh scored a 5-2 win over Andrew Symonds and his Therapeutic Services Physiotherapy team in Thursday night’s final at the Re/Max Centre
In doing so, Thomas becomes a two-time winner of the SuperLeague title.
Thomas led 4-2 heading into the final end, where Symonds had the hammer, but couldn’t translate it into points needed to win or force an extra end, giving up a steal of one instead.
Thomas and his teammates finished the season with just over $2,500 in season winnings, while Symonds and his rinkmates earned just over $2,070.
Thursday marked the final game for this version of the Symonds rink.
For next season, Symonds is bringing in couple of Canadian university curling champs in Chris Ford and Adam Boland to play third and second, replacing Mark Healy and Dave Noftall. Keith Jewer will remain with the team at lead.
