Isaac Buckingham doesn’t have a lot of free time on his hands and that appears to be just fine with him.
The 13-year-old Corner Brook native is a multi-sport athlete who spends the winter weekends carving up Marble Mountain and the sunny days of summer kicking around a soccer ball or smacking around tennis balls.

Throughout the school year, the Grade 9 student at Corner Brook Intermediate represents his school in basketball and volleyball to keep himself active.
Buckingham, son of Peter Buckingham and Andrea Reid, is focused on helping the Western Wolves make some noise in the provincial U13 male soccer league this summer.
The Wolves are undefeated, racking up five-straight wins, heading into a two-game series June 28-29 against Mount Pearl at the friendly confines of Wellington Street Sports Complex.
A centre midfielder with the Wolves, Buckingham has been impressed with how the new guys have blended in nicely with second-year players like himself.
He said the guys have been working well together and also enjoy playing together so that’s something he believes has been a key factor in the great start to the season.
“You can’t ask for much more than that,” Buckingham said earlier this week.
Two house league practices per week, a Wolves weekly practice on Sunday and a dryland training session once a week is a busy summer on the pitch when you throw in weekend games home and away.
His role with the team gives him lots of touches on the ball and he’s expected to be fleet of foot because there’s a lot of back-and-forth the field as a centre midfielder.
“You always have to be where the ball is,” he said.
He’s at home when he’s on the soccer pitch. Every reason to smile because life with the Wolves is proving to be a pretty good way to spend the summer.
