2017 Tim Hortons Brier gets underway in St. John’s

The 2017 Tim Hortons Brier is officially underway following the opening ceremonies at Mile One Centre in St. John’s.

The Jack MacDuff rink that won the Brier in 1976 — the last time it took place in St. John’s — took part in the opening ceremonies, along with the members of the Olympic gold medal-winning Team Gushue.

Team Newfoundland and Labrador, coached by Jules Owchar, is made up of skip Brad Gushue, third Mark Nichols, second Brett Gallant and lead Geoff Walker.
