Finalists have been announced for the annual Mount Pearl athletic awards to be presented next Friday at the Reid Community Centre.
Awards were chosen from a selection committee consisting of chairman Wayne Andrews, Don Kelly, Gary Martin, Roy Locke, Tammy Lahey and Karen Martin.
Youth and junior awards will be announced in May as part of the Mount Pearl Focus on Youth.
Finalists for the awards are:
Female athlete of the year: Ashley Morgan (figure skating), Erica Hayward (track and field), Catherine Ducey (volleyball)
Male athlete of the year: Daniel Kelloway (track and field), Sam Leawood (swimming), Shane Chafe (bowling)
Coach of the year: Alicia Vey (synchronized swimming), Gerard Power (track and Field), Terry Chaytor (rugby)
Executive of the year (Peter Halliday Memorial Award): Claudette Whelan (Campia Gymnastics), John Kennedy (Marlins swim team), Shane Chafe (Mount Pearl-Paradise Youth Bowling Council)
Team of the year: Dogs senior ‘A’ men’s rugby team
