St. John’s Junior Hockey League player Liam Hynes of the Southern Shore Breakers is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Hynes piled up four goals and seven assists in three games last week. He had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 Breakers win over the Northeast Eagles, registered two goals and four helpers in an 8-7 overtime loss to the St. John’s Caps and then recorded a goal and two assists as the Breakers defeated the Trinity-Placentia Flyers 4-2.
Hynes has taken over the league scoring lead. Through 22 games, he had 18 goals and 41 points before Friday’s game.
