Blake Dalton from the Southern Shore Breakers and Cameron Simms from the C.B.N. Stars both scored twice as Team Tobin outlasted Team Taylor 8-6 in the 19th St. John’s Junior Hockey League all-star game Wednesday night at the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts.

Thirty-eight players from the league’s eight teams took part in a game that featured represented teams from outside the city — the Breakers, Stars, Trinity-Placentia Flyers and CBR Renegades — vs a team from St. John’s and area — St. John’s Caps, Avalon Capitals, Northeast Eagles and Mount Pearl Blades.

The teams were named in honour of long-time junior hockey volunteers Bern Tobin and Gerry Taylor.

Liam Hynes of the Breakers had a goal and three assists for the winners. Conal McNamara and Lyndon Thorne from the Flyers, and Ryan Dawson from the Stars also scored for the winners.

Mount Pearl’s Daniel Toope had two in a losing cause, with singles coming from teammates James O’Brien and Jared Ostroski, and Avalon’s Iain Gamba and Brett Vokey.

The league resumes Friday with two games. The Eagles are at the Southern Shore Arena to play the Breakers, and the Flyers are in Bay Roberts to play the Stars.

Saturday, C.B.N. travels to C.B.S. to meet the Renegades, and the Breakers tangle with the Caps in St. John’s. Sunday, the Blades play host to the Caps and the Eagles travel to Whitbourne to play the Flyers.
