Boland finishes one point shy of QMJHL scoring crown

The Oceanic only managed one goal in each of their last two games — with Boland scoring both of them — and lost both those contests. But by getting to overtime in a 2-1 loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in their regular-season finale Saturday, Rimosuki earned a point that clinched the last spot in the QMJHL post-season.
For a while Saturday, it looked like Boland might have a double celebration as his goal in Drummondville temporarily gave him the league scoring lead. At the time, Boland and the Gatineau Olympique’s Vitalii Abramov each had 103 points, but Boland had more goals (48 to 46), which would have given him the scoring title in a tiebreaker. However, the Olympiques had a later start time in their final game and Abramov would eventually pick up an assist and his 104th point.
The 16th-seeded Oceanic will begin their best-of-seven first-round series Friday night in Saint John, N.B., against the league-leading Sea Dogs, whose roster includes centre Nathan Noel and defenceman Ian Smallwood, both from St. John’s.
