CLARENVILLE, N.L. — While there weren’t many fans in the stands, the Clarenville Ford Caribous had a strong showing against the Northeast Eagles Sunday afternoon at the Eastlink Events Centre (EEC).

Only 50 seconds in, Mason Reid scored for the ‘Bous, assisted by Rodney Mahoney.

At about the-13 minute mark of the period, the Eagles levelled the game, when Evan Penton scored for the Torbay-based team.

But the Caribous jumped right out in front again, with a Keith Delaney rebound goal almost a minute later. Rod Mahoney chipped in with his second assist of the game, while Chad Earle did the same, adding another point to his weekend tally.

From there, Clarenville never looked back, finishing the first with a 7-1 lead.

The Caribous cruised on the way to a 14-2 victory.

The rest of the goals scorers for the home team were Brad Crann — who had a hat trick — Mike Dyke, Dustin Russell, Chad Earle, Jordan Kennedy, two goals by Kenny Mahoney, another by Keith Delaney, and two from Ryan Desrosiers.

The Caribous outshot the Eagles, who iced 12 skaters, 62-28.

The Caribous will next play on Friday, Dec. 8, in Grand Falls-Windsor against the Cataracts and Saturday, Dec. 9, in Gander against the Flyers.
