The best-of-three series — formerly the C.B.S. Junior High School Challenge — is one of three school hockey tournaments being held in conjunction with the Conception Bay South Wintertest. The best-of-three tourneys (boys and girls) between the town’s high schools — Queen Elizabeth and Holy Spirit — start today.
Dylan Bromley of Villanova and Jack Connors of Frank Roberts were named their team’s players of the game in Game 1 of the junior high series.
The Annie Parsons Shield girls high school championship begins 6 p.m. today at the C.B.S. Arena, followed by Game 1 of the Fred Squires Shield boys event.
The Holy Spirit Falcons are defending champions in both. However, former members of the Queen Elizabeth Pioneers can claim some bragging rights having prevailed 11-6 in the cumulative score from two alumni games played Sunday.
