The Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts and Gander Flyers from the Central-West Senior Hockey League both registered series sweeps against East Coast Senior Hockey League opponents in provincial senior hockey interlocking play over the weekend.
At Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium in Grand Falls-Windsor, the homestanding Cataracts beat the St. John’s Caps 4-2 on Andrew Brennan’s two goals, one into an empty net.
Steve Yetman and Michael Brent also scored for the Cats.
In Gander, the Flyers thumped the Northeast Eagles 12-1. Gander led 7-0 after 20 minutes.
Paul Hutchings led the winners with three goals, and Graham Oldford, Brandon Hynes and Andrew Ryan each scored twice.
Singles came from Jordan Escott, Andrew Paul and Nick Fitzgerald.
On Saturday night, it was the Cats beating Northeast 6-1, while Gander downed the Caps 4-2. Hynes led the Flyers with two goals, and Escott and Mitch Oake also scored.

CWSHL and ECSHL have played 10 interlocking games so far this season, with Central league clubs winning all of them.
