The annual mid-season Minor Hockey Week kicks off Saturday with this year’s slogan, “The game is better … When we are in it together.”

“We want to promote team objectives, and that can be accomplished when we are working together on common goals, rather than individual agendas,” said Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador Minor Council chairman Arnold Kelly.

This year’s kick-off ceremony is set for Saturday at the Polar Centre in St. Anthony. The St. Anthony and Area Minor Hockey Association is this year’s host association, offering programs for 130 boys and girls.

The host association will be presenting a cake-cutting ceremony and conducting a proclamation formality today, while playing host to a novice jamboree for boys and girls participating from nearby minor hockey associations, Straits and Twin Town.

They also have plans for a skating event for all registered members of their association.
