Five teams take to the ice at the Mount Pearl Glacier today as the 2018 Atlantic female AAA midget hockey championship gets underway.
Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador is represented by the Western Warriors, while the host Eastern Ice Breakers are the province’s other entry.
The other teams are the Northern Lightning of New Brunswick, Northern Subway Selects of Nova Scotia and Mid Isle Wildcats of Prince Edward Island.
The first game is 1 p.m. today when the Selects of Nova Scotia take on the Western Warriors, but the official opening ceremonies are 7:30 p.m. just before a game between the Selects and Ice Breakers.
