It turns out Adam Holwell has one more honour to add to those he gained in his major junior hockey career.
The 21-year-old defenceman from St. John’s was named winner of the Georeg Parsosn trophy as the most sportsmanlike player at the Memorial Cup after helping the Acadie-Bathurst Titan win the Canadian Hockey League championship Sunday with a 3-0 win over the host Regina Pats.
Holwell scored what stood as the game-winning goal in that game, his last as a junior.
It was one of two goals in the tourney for Holwell, who drew just two penalty minutes in four games.
Holwell, now eyeing a possible pro career, is one of four Newfoundlanders who were on the Titan roster at the Memorial Cup, joining goaltender and St. John’s native Evan Fitzpatrick, centre Jordan Maher of Gander and defenceman Zack Bennett of Bay Roberts.
Maher reportedly will be traded to Halifax later this week after the QMJHL's pre-draft trading period begins.
