The Western Warriors fell short of winning a bronze medal in the Atlantic AAA midget hockey championship Sunday, losing 3-0 to the Mid Isle Wildcats of P.E.I. at The Glacier in Mount Pearl.
The Northern Subway Selects from Nova Scotia beat New Brunswick’s Northern Lightning 7-1 in the final of the tournament hosted by Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Selects will represent the region in the Esso Cup female midget nationals April 22-28 in Halifax.
The Warriors finished the tournament at 1-2-1. The Eastern Ice Breakers from metro St. John’s, the other Newfoundland team in the event, were 0-4.
The Warriors beat the Ice Breakers 2-0 in a best-of-three provincial AAA female midget hockey final last month in Glovertown.
