Ethan Moore scored the only goal of the shootout, and Josh Hogan stopped all three shooters he faced as the O’Donel Patriots upset the Mount Pearl Senior High Huskies 4-3 for the Metro High School Hockey League’s 2017-18 championship.

That gives Mount Pearl’s O’Donel high school that city’s hockey bragging rights until next season.

The Huskies had finished first in the regular season standings, losing only three games all year. The Patriots, on the other hand, were third.

O’Donel took the best-of-three final 2-1.

At The Glacier in Mount Pearl, O’Donel led 3-2 after two periods, but the Huskies’ Ian McIntosh forced extra time with a third-period goal.

Nick Moore, Andrew Kennedy and Jacob Kennedy scored for the Patriots.

Nathan Kelly and Jordan Lynch had the other goals for the Huskies
