It was a reunion for the Norris family last week at the Norris Power Hockey summer camp at Torbay’s Jack Byrne Arena.

Brothers and St. John’s natives Ian, Dwayne and Warren Norris own and operate the camp, and are helped out by Dwayne’s three kids.

Dwayne played in the National Hockey League, AHL, world junior championships and Olympics. He scored the game-winning goal for Canada in its gold-medal victory over Czechoslovakia at the 1990 world juniors and won a silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Norway four years later.

Warren also played professionally, beginning with the AHL’s St. John’s Maple Leafs before embarking on a decade-long career in Europe, while Ian played Newfoundland senior hockey with the St. John’s Capitals.

Dwayne’s three boys include the oldest, Coale, who is returning to NCAA Ferris State University for a third season; Josh, who turns pro this season; and the youngest, Dalton, who will be playing in the USHL junior circuit this season with the Lincoln Stars. Josh, who played two years of NCAA at Michigan, just signed an entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators.

A 2017 first-round draft pick by San Jose, Josh Norris was a key part of the trade that saw Erik Karlsson dealt to the Sharks last season. From left to right are Ian, Dalton, Coale, Josh, Warren and Dwayne Norris.
