Just like pants waists during the holiday season, things got tighter in the Central West Senior Hockey League over the weekend.
The first-place Gander Kelly Ford Flyers (8-3-1) lost two road games, falling 6-2 to the Clarenville Ford Caribous Friday night at the Eastlink Events Centre, then dropping a 5-2 decision to the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts at Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium Sunday afternoon.
In between, the Caribous (7-5-0) picked up a second win, downing the Cataracts 5-2 at Grand Falls-Windsor on Saturday. That and the pair of Flyers’ losses means Clarenville is just three points behind Gander heading into the league’s Christmas break.
The Cataracts are 6-6-0. In all cases, the records ionclude the results from interlocking games with ECSHL teams.
