Ravens edge Vipers in opener of Akita Shield junior high tourney in C.B.S.

The Frank Robert Ravens drew first blood on the Villanova Vipers in the first game of the best-of-three Akita Equipment Shield, a junior high hockey competition that’s part of C.B.S. Winterfest.

The Akita Shield is one of three different hockey championships held during Winterfest. The others are the Fred Squires Shield and Annie Parsons Shield, involving senior high teams.

Sunday, Dylan Dawe scored two goals for the Ravens and Drew Sheppard had one as Frank Roberts won 3-2 in the first game of the best-of-three series. Jacob Hindy and Chase Wellon had the goals for the Vipers.

Game 2 is today. The Fred Squires Shield and Annie Parsons Shield championships also open today.
