These Cats keep coming back in CWSHL final

The Cataracts and Clarenville Caribous hook up in Game 7 8 o’clock Friday night in Grand Falls-Windsor after the Cats roared back from a 3-1 deficit in the best-of-seven series with back-to-back victories Saturday and Sunday.
And those two wins would have to be considered demoralizing setbacks for the Caribous.
Sunday at Clarenville’s Eastlink Events Centre, Collin Circelli scored a power play goal with just under a minute to go in regulation time to give the visiting Cataracts a 4-3 win over the Caribous.
That came on the heels of a tremendous Grand Falls-Windsor comeback Saturday night at Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium, one in which the hosts scored four third-period goals for a 5-2 win.
Trailing 3-2 with five minutes left in regulation Sunday, the Caribous’ Ryan Delaney was whistled for a hooking penalty. Andre Gill proceeded to bury the puck with the man-advantage to tie the game for the Cats. It was Gill’s second goal of the game.
After a water bottle was thrown on the ice from the Caribous’ bench, an unsportsmanlike penalty was issued, leading to Circelli’s game-winner.
Andrew Brennan also scored for the winners. Kevin Reid, Ryan Delaney and Keith Delaney had the Clarenville goals.
The winner of Game 7 next Friday won’t have much time to rest. That’s because the Herder Memorial Trophy provincial final opens Saturday night at the Danny Cleary Community Centre in Harbour Grace.
The Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises CeeBee Stars won the Avalon East Hockey League title Friday night with a 5-3, Game 6 decision over the Tapper’s Northeast Eagles.
The CeeBees also play host to Game 2 of the Herder final Sunday afternoon.
