There were 11 trades involving 15 players — including Newfoundlander Zach Bennett — in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League over the weekend.

Bennett, a 17-year-old rookie defenceman from Bay Roberts, was dealt from the Drummonville Voltigeurs to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday.

The Voltigeurs got a ninth-round 2019 draft pick in the transaction.

Bennett had been used sparingly by Drummondville, appearing in just seven games and recording an assist.

In all, the Titan have made 10 trades during the QMJHL’s holiday trading period.  Besides Bennett, they acquired two other Newfoundlanders in deals in the last few weeks, getting goaltender Evan Fitzpatrick from the Sherbrooke Phoenix and the rights to forward Liam Leonard from the Quebec Remparts. Both Fiztpatrick and Leonard made their Acadie-Bathurst debuts Saturday in a 5-4 loss to the Baie Comeau Drakkar.

The recent trades give the Titan five players from Newfoundland and Labrador their roster, by far the most of any team in the QMJHL.

The Titan already had Adam Holwell, a defenceman from St. John’s, and Jordan Maher, a centre from Gander.
