Vikings to meet Highlanders in St. John's high school hockey final

The Gonzaga Vikings will take on the Holy Heart Highlanders in the 2017 Hickman Automotive St. John’s high school hockey final starting Thursday.

The Vikings earned a berth in the best-of-five championship series with a 6-4 win over the Holy Trinity Tigers Tuesday night in Goulds in the third and deciding game of their semifinal.
Gonzaga got goals from a half dozen players — Eric Knight, Antonio Shano, Joey Walsh, Eric Rowe, Kyle Rumsey and Garrett Mills — and three assists from Brady Holwell.
Gavin Connors, Johnny Woodfine, Matthew Senior and Nick Murphy replied for Holy Spirit, which got two assists from Cameron Sullivan.
Thursday’s Game 1 of the final will be played at the Glacier in Mount Pearl, with a 9 p.m. start time.
