At the end of the weekend, both the Western Wolves and Paradise had something to smile about and something to lament.
On Sunday, Paradise pulled out a 3-2 win over the Wolves in action from the Newfoundland and Labrador U17 boys provincial soccer league at Wellington Street Sports Complex.
The win meant both teams claimed a win, a loss and a draw in their three-game weekend set.
Chris Goulding of Paradise opened the scoring in the 8th minute, before Jakob Young made it 2-0 at the 13-minute mark.
Ayo Owlabi cut that lead in half in the 39th minute, then Colin Hulan tied it for the Wolves in the 44th.
Riley Mercer wound up scoring the winner for Paradise in the 76th.
On Saturday, the two teams fought to a 1-1 tie.
Mercer’s goal in the 44th put Paradise up by one, but Mark Hillier evened it on a penalty kick in the 70th.
The weekend matchup kicked off on Friday, with a 3-2 Western win.
Owlabi had the lone goal of the first half, scoring in the 39th for Western.
Hulan scored in the 48th to put his side up 2-0, but Andrew Barrow then scored for Paradise, making it 2-1. Liam Lundrigan found the back of the net in the 80th to tie the game, which only set the stage for Mark Randell to bury one in the 82nd to secure the victory.
Girls U15
Western found the back of the net early and often against Feildians in the girls U15 provincial league.
Brianna Fortune (3), Emma White (2), Cathy Morgan (2), Marissa Jacobs, Carlie Gosse, and Danielle Duffy all bulged the twine in a 10-0 victory on Saturday at Feildian Grounds in St. John’s.
On Sunday, the Wolves edged Conception Bay South 2-1 at Topsail Sports Complex.
Fortune and White were the goalscorers for the Wolves.

Boys U13
In play from the boys U13 provincial league at Wellington Street Sports Complex, Liam Dutcher and Isaac Buckingham both struck for the Wolves in a 2-0 win over Paradise.
On Saturday, the teams played to a 2-2 draw, with Max Antle and Liam McIsaac scoring for Western and Zach young and Marcus Paterson replying for Paradise.
