Memorial Sea-Hawks women’s basketball star Sydney Stewart is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.

Stewart played a leading role in helping the Sea-Hawks sweep the Dalhousie Tigers in Memorial’s 2017-18 home-opening Atlantic University Sport series last weekend at the Field House.

The fourth-year forward scored 27 points Sunday as Memorial beat Dal 87-58, following up on a 17-point effort Saturday in an 80-58 Sea-Hawks’ win. Stewart also grabbed eight rebounds and collected four assists Saturday.

Stewart finished third in conference scoring last year.
