The Softball Canada AGM and Congress winds up tonight with the 2017 Softball Canada Hall of Fame and awards banquet at the Holiday Inn in St. John’s.

Colin Abbott of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s, Randy Souliers of St. John’s and Les Howey, a Saskatoon native who now resides in C.B.S., will be inducted into the Softball Canada Hall of Fame.

Abbott will go in the athlete category, Souliers will be inducted in the officials category and Howey as part of Canada’s 1992 Canadian men's world championship gold medal entry, which is being added in the team category.

As well, three Newfoundlanders will receive national awards. Jordan Pomeroy of Placentia gets the Claude Deschamps Memorial Award, Mitch Stack of Petty Harbour the Ethel Boyce Memorial Award and Paul Smith Sr. of C.B.S. the Rose Hodgson volunteer of the year award.
