All-star showing for Poynter

Alison Poynter of the Memorial Sea-Hawks earned a berth on the tournament all-star team at the Gee-Gees Pre-Season Classic volleyball tournament at the University of Ottawa over the weekend.

Poynter is a fourth-year player from St. John’s, out of Holy Heart of Mary high school.

The Sea-Hawks were second in their division with a 2-2 record, and lost to the Dalhousie Tigers in the third-fourth place game.

It’s the third straight year the Sea-Hawks competed in this tournament, with this being their highest finish.
