St. John’s Junior Hockey League player Cameron Simms is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.

Simms’s second goal of the game, at 5:47 of overtime, gave the C.B.N. MoorFrost Stars a 4-3 win over the CBR Renegades last Friday night at the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts.

Simms finished the game with two goals and an assist.

Sunday night, he had his team’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to the homestanding Mount Pearl Mark’s Blades at The Glacier.

Simms, a rookie, leads the league in scoring with seven goals and 17 points in only eight games.
