Baseball player Gerry Stone is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
The veteran Holy Cross Trinity Pub baseball player was a triple away from hitting for the cycle in a St. John’s Molson Senior Baseball League game last Saturday at St. Pat’s Ball Park.
The veteran all-star hit a pair of singles, a double and home run, knocking in four runs in a four-for-four day at the plate as Holy Cross beat the Feildians 11-5.
For good measure, Stone scored a pair of runs and stole a base.
In addition to his duties with the Crusaders, Stone is also a veteran with the St. John’s Capitals.
