Softball player Brad Ezekiel is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.

Ezekiel is one of the country’s finest fastpitch softball players, and a mainstay on the men’s national team. He showed why last weekend while competing at the International Softball Congress men’s world championship in Kitchener, Ont.

Playing for the Hill United Chiefs of Ohsweken, Ont. — Jason Hill and Shane Boland also played on the squad that was coached by John Hill — Ezekiel led the tournament with six home runs and 14 RBI, and hit at a .474 clip.

Ezekiel was named to the tournament’s all-world all-star team.

Locally, Ezekiel plays for the NTV Hitmen in the St. John’s senior men’s league.
