With poor weather expected today, Eastbound International Dragway in Avondale has moved all activities, including the Trans Am and Firebird Car Show, to Sunday.
The IHRA Drag Racing season opener is set for noon Sunday, the most anticipated drag racing season since the opening of Eastbound’s official IHRA mile drag strip.
The opener features a car show from the Trans AM & Firebird Club Sunday, with the IHRA Gamblers series. Drag Racing Gamblers participants will compete in an open class of race cars and street cars in a bracket race format for prize money.
All street cars and motorcycles are encouraged to join drag racing events, and staff will assist new drivers. In addition to that, all show cars are welcome to join the Trans AM and Firebird car show. Admission is free with a non-perishable item for the local Food Bank.
Participant gates open at 8 a.m. with Test ’n Tune slated for 9-11:30 a.m. Fan gates open at noon, with competition starting at 12.
Tickets are $15 (tax included), and kids under 12 are admitted free.
