Marble Mountain made a profit of $10,000 as host of the 5K Foam Fest brought to the province by 365 Sports Inc.

Tony Abbott, chief operating officer, shared the financial particulars for the ski resort with The Western Star on Thursday morning.

Abbott said Marble Mountain, in tandem with accommodations, realized a revenue of $19,000 and a profit of $10,000 after expenses, for hosting a fun foamy time that drew one of the largest crowds ever to an event at the Steady Brook ski resort.

Foam Fest organizers 365 Sports Inc. will return to province despite taking a loss

As per the agreement with the promoter, Abbott said would host the event and assume no financial risk. As such, he said, 365 Sports Inc. took in revenue associated with ticket sales, parking and merchandise, while Marble would reap the cash flow from food and beverage sales during Foam Fest.

According to Abbott, there were 2,700 registered participants for Foam Fest and estimates there were over 2,000 people who took in all the action as people from all walks of life did their best to get filthy clean on an individual basis or as a team.

Officials with 365 Sports Inc. were impressed with the large crowd that supported and believes it’s an event that can grow into something bigger and better so they have agreed to hold another Foam Fest at Marble in 2019.

Abbott was happy to see so many smiling faces at Foam Fest and he’s excited about bringing more special events to the hill. He’s already working on a couple of events for the winter and a number of things are in the works for next summer at Marble.
