It would have been a shock had she not made the team, but it was just made official a short time ago in Vancouver: Kaetlyn Osmond of Edmonton, a native of Marystown, has been named to the Canadian Olympic figure skating team.

Osmond won the silver medal at the Canadian figure skating championship Saturday in Vancouver, finishing second to Gabby Daleman of Toronto, who celebrated her 20th birthday in style with a splendid gold medal performance. Larkyn Austman, of B.C., was third.

Daleman and Austman were also named to the Olympic team.

Osmond entered the nationals as the defending gold medalist. She is also the defending silver medalist at the world championship.

She also skated at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
