Wednesday night, as the St. John’s Molson senior men’s league final resumed, Shane Kelly stepped into the spotlight at Lions Park, hitting a pair of home run, including a walkoff with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The dinger gave The Bigs a 4-3 win over Kelly’s Pub and tied the best-of-seven final 2-2. Game 5 goes 6 p.m. this evening at Lions Park.
After Andrew Evans struck out top start the seventh, Kelly stepped to the plate and clubbed a shot to straight centrefield. Earlier in the game, Kelly hit a two-run home run during a three-run first inning.
Peter Kavanagh also homered for The Bigs in the first.
Mark Power (7IP, 5H, 1HB, 1W, 9K) registered the win over Sean Cleary (7IP, 7H, 2W, 13K).
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a Blair Ezekiel two-run home run. Kelly’s tied the game with one in the third.
Ezekiel finished the night with a 3-for-3 game at the plate.
Kelly’s are the four-time defending champs, and are looking to tie the record for most consecutive championships of five set by Green Sleeves between 1988-92.
