It was only the second time the Mavs have won the tournament they host.

In semifinal play, St. Kevin’s from the Goulds beat Prince of Wales Collegiate Cavaliers of St. John’s 90-60, while the Highlanders from St. John’s downed Mount Pearl’s O’Donel Patriots 69-57.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga high school in St. John’s staged its annual Vikings Invitational boys’ tournament, which saw the PWC Cavaliers win yet again.

The Cavs beat Waterford Valley Warriors in the final.

It’s a third tournament victory this season for PWC, which earlier won the Carl George Memorial Tournament and the 40th Elwood Invitational in Deer Lake.
