A new racing season gets under way next weekend at Eastbound International Speedway in Avondale with the Islander RV Victoria Day Weekend Speedfest Sunday.
The season opener features RV parking from Friday to Monday, NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing, INEX and U.S. Legend racing, Family Go Kart racing, and a traditional Newfoundland kitchen party Sunday with the Shamrock City performance stage to welcome teams and fans back to Eastbound Park.
Two Newfoundland residents have NASCAR championships, and have been honoured at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC. No. 99 Wayne Walsh battled until the final race of the 2017 season to claim the honours, while the 2016 champion, Jason Groves in his No. 74 car, came close to a repeat championship by finishing runner up in 2017.
RV parking starts noon Friday with check out on Monday. Sunday’s race day will kick off with gates opening at noon, a Pit Party at 12:30 p.m. to meet the drivers and teams, and a 2 p.m. green flag for main events.
General admission tickets are $20, and $15 for kids under 12. Also available is a 5 Voucher Hot Pass for any NASCAR race for $80, or a family pass for two kids under 12 and two general admission tickets for $60.
Tickets are available at eastboundpark.com, North Atlantic Orange Stores, or at the gates.
