Newfoundland and Labrador facing Quebec today in Canada Games men's soccer quarter-final

Newfoundland and Labrador’s faces Quebec today (7 p.m. NT) in the quarter-final round of the men’s soccer competition at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

Newfoundland finished 1-1 in preliminary-round play after a 3-0 loss to New Brunswick Wednesday evening at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.
In its cross-over quarter-final matchup, New Brunswick will take on home side Manitoba, which tied Quebec at 1-0-1 in its pool, but ended up in second place by virtue of goals for/against.

Softball
Newfoundland’s women’s softball team is still looking for a first win after six games, including 7-0 and 11-0 losses to Manitoba and Quebec on Wednesday.
Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia will be NL’s opponents today.

Volleyball
Newfoundland’s men’s volleyball team finished its preliminary schedule with a 1-4 record after falling 3-0  to Ontario Wednesday.
Ontario leads the competition with a 5-0 record, but Newfoundland battled gamely Wednesday, with set scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-17
That leaves NL in the placing round, where it will face either Prince Edward Island or the Yukon this evening.
The Newfoundland women v-ballers have one preliminary-game remaining, this morning versus New Brunswick.
NLcarries a 1-3 record into that contest after downing the Northwest Territories 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-19) on Wednesday.
The results of its game versus N.B. this morning will determine if the Newfoundland will face P.E.I. or the Yukon as it opens play in the placement round later today.

Wrestling
The Games wrestling competition began Wednesday with team competition, which involves provinces/territories squaring off in a series of matches in individual weight classes.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s women’s team downed Nunavut 50-0 and lost 29-18 to Manitoba and 45-5 Saskatchewan.
Alberta and Nova Scotia will be the opponents for the NL women today.
The NL men were 0-3 Wednesday, losing 42-11 to New Brunswick, 46-6 to Saskatchewan and 52-0 to British Columbia. Nunavut and P.E.I. are the opponents today,

Cycling
There was no competition for the members Newfoundland’s men’s cycling team Wednesday, but they’ll be on their bikes today for the road race at Birds Hill Provincial Park.
