The Newfoundland Rock fell to 1-1 in the Eastern Canadian Super League following a 27-19 loss to Nova Scotia Keltics Saturday at the Swilers Rugby Complex in St. John’s.
The Rock got tries from Frank Walsh, Jack Thorburn and Sheldon Ryan, along with two conversions from Patrick McNicholas.
The Rock opened their 2018 season with a 42-15 decision over the New Brunswick Black Spruce a week ago at Swilers.
Saturday’s game was the final time local rugby fans got a chance to see the Rock this season. The team hits the road for games in Halifax and Fredericton, N.B,. before the Super League playoffs July 13-15 in Montreal.
All games in the Canadian Rugby Championship — the Rock will be an Atlantic regional squad based in St. John’s, and will be selected following the Super League season — will also be on the road.
