Poynter earned all-star status at last weekend’s Gee-Gees Pre-Season Classic, a women’s volleyball tournament hosted by the University of Ottawa.
Poynter led the Sea-Hawks’ offence with 183 assists, 11.43 assists/set, five blocks and seven aces, helping the Sea-Hawks to a fourth-place finish.
“Alison has worked extremely hard over her four years as a Sea-Hawk to be at the level she’s at as our setter,” said coach John Slauenwhite. “This past weekend, she had a breakout weekend. Ali made strong decisions throughout the weekend running our offense, which allowed our team and attackers to be successful.”
Forsey, a fifth-year Sea-Hawk, scored the game-winning goal in Sunday’s 1-0 win over the University of New Brunswick, preserving a split with the Varsity Reds and snapping a four-game winless streak.
