Memorial Sea-Hawks’ Jasmine Foran was named the Atlantic University Sport conference’s female rookie of the year Friday.

The award was presented prior to the start of the AUS swimming championship in Saint John, N.B.

Foran, a Bathurst, N.B. native, enjoyed an impressive freshman season with the Sea-Hawks, winning six individual events in AUS competition and posting U Sports national qualifying times in multiple events.

At the Kemp-Fry Invitational meet, she won gold and posted national qualifying times in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events. At the Dalhousie Invitational meet in January, she earned a first-place finish in the 200m IM, as well as the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

Foran was also a part of multiple successful relay teams, earning a silver finish in the 400m medley relay and a bronze finish in the 800m freestyle relay at the Kemp-Fry Invitational. Her 400m medley relay team earned another second-place finish at the Dalhousie Winter Invitational in January.
