Senior softball provincials resume

What may be the longest tournament of the summer season resumes this weekend with the Molson provincial senior A men’s softball championship at Lions Park.

The tournament opened three weeks ago, but has been delayed by poor weather and regularly-scheduled games in the St. John’s Molson senior men’s league.

Four games are on the schedule for today, with three on Sunday.

Today’s schedule is: Dodgers vs Bigs (10 a.m.), Canada Games vs Hitmen (noon), Bigs vs Bulldogs (2 p.m.) and fifth vs fourth game (4 p.m.).

On Sunday, semifinals are 10 a.m. and noon, with the final slated for 2 p.m.

The winner represents the province at the national senior men’s championship next summer in Nova Scotia.

Meanwhile, the local senior men’s final won’t resume until Tuesday at 6 p.m. Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs, the four-time reigning champs, lead The Bigs 2-1 in the best-of-seven final.
