The Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador (SCNL) 2018 sectional championships begin Friday at the Glacier in Mount Pearl.
The sectionals identify the province’s top figure skaters for advancement to the next round of qualifying events, ultimately leading to Canadian championships.
Competition Friday is 11 a.m. to 5:40 pm. And continues on Saturday between 12:30 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.
But SCNL is about more than figure skating.
As it prepares for its biggest provincial event, the organization is also highlighting the fact it is the largest learn-to skate teaching organization in the province, offering programs through 30 member clubs and schools and boasting a membership of 5,000 participants.
