The St. John’s Edge have announced dates for the opening games of their first-ever National Basketball League of Canada playoff series.

Games 1 and 2 of their Central Division semifinal will be at Mile One Centre Friday, April 6 (7 p.m.) and Sunday, April 8 (2 p.m.).

The Edge’s first-round opponent will be the Windsor Express, who lost 125-110 to the London Lightning Wednesday night.

That result improved defending champion London’s record to 26-13. Although though St. John’s (24-14), which closes out its regular-season schedule Saturday and Monday at Mile One against the Niagara River Lions, could still finish with the same record as the Lightning, London would prevail in the tiebreaker having won the regular-season series against St. John’s.

That leaves the Edge in second place in the division and the Express in third.

London will face Niagara in the opening round.

Tickets for the Edge’s first two playoff on sale at the Mile One box office (576-7657) or online at www.mileonecentre.com.

Divisional semifinals are best-of-five matchups and the Edge will host any necessary Game 5  versus Windsor at a date to be announced.
