St. John’s intermediate softball playoffs in full swing

The Conception Bay Central Junior Canadians and defending champion Lafontaine Club can advance to the semifinal round of the Molson St. John’s Intermediate Softball League with wins tonight at Lions Park.

C.B.C., which takes on the Conception Bay South Storm at 6 p.m., and Placentia-based Lafontaine, which is facing Roebothan McKay Marshall Republic at 8 p.m., both lead their best-of-three quarter-finals 1-0.
Goulds (formerly Rob Roy) has already secured a berth in the best-of-five semifinals, having downed Game On Gear 2-1 in a quarter-final series, finishing off the Waterford Valley side with a 5-1 on Monday. That same day saw the opening game of the other quarter-final, with Justin Butler hitting a home run for Bay Roberts Coors Light in a 10-1 thrashing of the Chayee Bourras NL Selects.
